"It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it."

-- Jacob Bronowski, The Ascent of Man

Below are a series of comments about the Barefoot Tutor drawn from various sources (Names obscured for privacy):

This quote was taken from a Tutor Evaluation form given to the parents of my longest-running student, whom I tutored in a variety of subjects from 7th grade through her sophomore year of college:

"Q: What did you like BEST about your daughter's tutoring sessions?

A: The way you explain and give examples to make her understand."

The following quote is from a holiday card given to me by the parents of another student whom I tutored from sophomore year of high school through sophomore year of college. She is now an Education Major herself:

"B___ and I cannot thank you enough for the time you have given to S_____ with Math. We know it is your patience & how you present what needs to be taught that has made the difference & has turned S____'s outlook on Math completely around. Thank you so very much once again."

The final quote is from a recommendation letter written by one of my University professors:

"A straight "A" student, Christopher, in my view, should develop into a fine role model for youngsters.... Christopher revealed an impressive array of positive, personal and professional qualities: he was intelligent, articulate, kind, dependable, industrious, dedicated, naturally inquisitive, motivated, reflective, detail-oriented, cooperative, and affable.... Because of his desire to succeed, as well as his good nature and academic commitment, I believe Christopher will be well-suited for any position he may seek as a nanny, tutor, or babysitter..."
